What are the warning signs?
Domestic violence varies, but it always involves an abusive partner asserting control. In the beginning, they may seem perfect, only to later reveal harmful behaviors.

Does your partner:

-
Put you down, call you names, or intentionally embarrass you?
-
Tell you who you can hang out with or where you can go?
-
Always criticize what you do?
-
Get really jealous when you spend time with others?
-
Keep you from seeing your friends or family?
-
Take your money or not give you money you need?
-
Make all the money decisions without asking you?
-
Stop you from making choices for yourself?
-
Break or ruin your things on purpose?
-
Threaten to harm you, your kids, or your pets?
-
Criticize your parenting or threaten to take away your kids or pets?
-
Act like their abusive behavior isn't a big deal, say it's your fault, or deny it happened?
-
Scare you with guns, knives, or other weapons?
-
Make you use drugs or alcohol when you don't want to?
-
Hit, shove, choke, or slap you?
-
Force you to have sex when you don't want to?
-
Make you feel bad for wanting to spend time with your friends or family?
